NOA members are the foundation builders for the future of opera.
Student members represent the future of opera—as performers, educators, and innovators. NOA is dedicated to supporting their growth through various initiatives and resources, led by Joshua May, Ellen Denham, and the Student Programming Committee.
Two primary ways we invest in our student members is through 1) the establishment of SNOA—Student NOA Chapters. These student-led chapters create opportunities for exploration and connection through a love of opera; you can read about our charter chapters here and visit the SNOA page for information on how to get involved. We also invest in student members through 2) a carefully curated conference experience at The National Conference with numerous sessions designed to strengthen skills and peak curiosity. The conference experience is guided by NOA student leaders to ensure that we are programming sessions that matter for the students who attend.
Additional efforts include webinars, mentor/mentee opportunities, and numerous competitions to support scholarly research and writing, vocal competitions & fellowships, stage director fellowships, and composition fellowships.
