Our Sounds and Stories: New Work Expo
2024 National Conference (Jan 3-6, Tempe, AZ)
Promote your new operatic works to a national audience of opera producers and educators who are looking for works to produce!
For the 2024 conference, NOA is inviting opera composers, librettists, and other creators to feature and promote their works and/or works-in-progress during the New Work Expo on Friday morning, January 5, which will be held concurrently with the poster presentations. Opera creators may apply individually or as a composer/librettist team. Those selected may display scores, recorded audio samples, and other materials for one or more operatic works. A body of works by the same composer/librettist team, or works by a single composer to different librettists (or vice versa) are all acceptable. Works that are feasible and appropriate for producing at a university, conservatory or young-artist program will be preferred.
Deadline: October 15, 2023
Application is by online form. Please provide a brief narrative about the work(s) being proposed for presentation, to also include titles, synopses, and cast of characters. An optional audio sample may also be provided (e.g. web link).
Important Guidelines
Creator presenters are required to register for and attend the conference in order to present. Audio demonstrations should be limited to headphone playback. Presenters will be assigned a table location, and the display area for each individual/team will be limited to one-half of a standard six-foot folding table. No audio or displays may impinge on or interfere with other presenters.
Note: for greater visibility throughout the conference, work creators may also consider purchasing an Exhibitor Table as an affordable add-on to a regular conference registration, which provides a full six-foot table display in a highly-trafficked area of the conference for all three days of the conference (Thursday through Saturday).
