2021 Virtual Conference

2021 Virtual Conference

As the time for our national conference draws closer, NOA leadership has been diligently monitoring the Covid-19 pandemic, including local, state, and national guidelines, travel advisories, and health protocols.  As a result of these considerations and careful negotiations with our contracted hotel in Florida, we have decided to postpone our in-person St. Augustine conference until 2022, and instead hold our 2021 national conference virtually.

We are therefore proud to announce:
Strengthening the Foundation: National Opera Association's 2021 Virtual Conference, January 4-6, 2021 (please note date change)

This will bring new challenges for us as an organization, but also the possibility to broaden our impact by drawing new participants to our virtual conference. Jess Muñoz, VP of Conferences, is already on top of things and excited about many ideas and visions for collaboration. Many of our usual conference activities will take place in this new format, including inspiring and informative conference sessions, panel discussions, and plenary events. The Robert Hansen Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition and The Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition will both go forward in a virtual format; however, we will be postponing the finals of the Dominick Argento Chamber Opera Competition for one year. The Executive Board, Chair of that Competition, as well as Buck Ross from University of Houston who will produce the winning opera, felt strongly that this was a solid decision that will preserve the integrity and importance of this NOA institution.

More information, including the conference schedule and registration, will be forthcoming.

A special thanks to the NOA Board, especially the Executive Committee, as well as all the committees and their chairs, for the work and dedication to NOA they demonstrate year-round to keep this organization vibrant and relevant, especially during this significant pivot to a virtual conference, and look forward to seeing you all, virtually, in January!

Best Wishes,

Benjamin Brecher, President
Isai Jess Muñoz, VP for Conferences
Kirk Severtson, Executive Director
