Michael S. Richardson completed his PhD in Music History and Theory from Stony Brook University in 2016, and he received a DAAD grant to conduct dissertation research in Germany for the 2012/13 academic year under the guidance of Annette Kreutziger-Herr. His research interests include late eighteenth- and nineteenth-century German, French, and Russian opera, nineteenth-century European folklorism and nationalism, and medievalism and medieval music reception. He teaches courses on the History of Western Music for music majors and minors, as well as beginning music theory and music appreciation courses for non-music majors. He also directs the University of St. Thomas Schola Cantorum Gregorian Chant choir.
